The True Face of Progressivism
This is the first of articles identifying the nature of the progressive movement, it's methodology, goals, and tactics.
I will not detail the rise of the progressive movement, but rather the nature of the forces arrayed against conservatives and America at large in contemporary politics.
Part 1:
Progressivism is the idealized pursuit of a ideological, socialized utopia where the process is more important than outcome or results. It is the PROCESS that becomes the standard by which perceived inequalities, economic disparities, racial and gender chasms are measured and attempted to be rectified. Progressives view any status quo other than the one they impose to be inherently unfair. While progressives argue for change based on the above, seldom are they ever held to objectives standards of results. Outcome often is not discussed except in the most vague form. Shrouded in platitudes, exempt from objective standards of review and comparison, measured by those sympathetic of the outcome, employing flexible metrics confident of manipulating the facts to dovetail easily with the equation indifferent to what the actual calculus reveals. Process is never ending, relentless, durable. As such, progressives view their role in the political landscape to be an elevated, enlightened, constant march to the perfect. Once a given social ill is "cured" another by either design or accident evolves and the process is renewed. Progressives employ a number of tools to this end. Institutions are created in the dimmest corners of government, academia, and opaque bureaucracies. Safely marinating from casual observations, funded by convoluted channels of influence, these become instruments of change working in the background of everyday Amerce. DO NOT underestimate the dedication, motivation, funding and relentlessness of the progressive, their umbrella organizations or the most animated of efforts.
Coming up...race and gender

I fail to understand your argument. First off if you look at the rise of the progressive movement you will see that progressives are just as disorganized as conservatives (if not more), therefore arguing that there is some type of overarching agenda is without basis. Much like the coalition we see inside the GOP the progressive movement is a group of people trying to solve our nation’s problems.
It is fact that the progressive programs still in place from the 1930’s have kept children from staving in the street during this recession and kept 1000’s of families in their homes. We as conservative cannot deny that there is some social obligation we have as a nation, in terms of education, fighting poverty and providing equal opportunities to our citizenry. I would contest that more government management is not the best way to move forward in addressing these issues, but we cannot simply deny these social obligations exist in our world view. In order for the conservative movement to succeed, we need not defeat the progressive actors, but find better solutions to America’s problems.

Both Brian and the Sierra Conservative have good points. Debt reduction must be a priority for our country. But we must not give in to those who would balance the books on the backs of the weak and defenseless while protecting the fortunes (amassed over the last thirty years) from reasonable taxation.
